NATURAL AESTHETICA
As Aesthetic Specialists, we use an innovative approach to facial restoration. Using an artistic eye, we look for shadows, folds and facial features that can be corrected. With this precise evaluation, we are able to restore and prevent changes that have occurred through the aging process. We focus on providing results that will be natural and youthful.
Science of the Aging Face
Five major biological factors contribute to the aging face
1. Wrinkle Formation
Wrinkles are a result of continuous muscle contractions. These contractions eventually weaken the outer skin layers, causing a fold, ridge or crease to occur. Early formation occurs in the thinner skin around the eyes and forehead. Eventually, wrinkles will form around the mouth and lower face. Smoking or excessive pursing the lips, sun exposure and dry skin accelerate wrinkle formation.
2. Depletion of Facial Fat
The depletion of facial fat is a big contributor to the aging process. The most common area of facial fat loss is the Malar fat pad. The Malar fat pad, also called the “apple of the cheek”, supports the nasolabial folds, jowls, and provides fullness to the cheek region. When the face thins and gravity pulls down the skin and fat, it results in hollowness under the eyes, deep nasolabial folds, and saggy jowls. With proper volume restoration, results will provide a natural and youthful appearance.
3. Loss of Hyaluronic Acid
Another component to the aging face is loss of hyaluronic acid. It is a natural complex sugar that binds with water molecules, providing cushion. When we are young, we have plenty of hyaluronic acid, and the skin is hydrated and healthy. When it is depleted by the process of aging, the face will appear sunken and gaunt. Replacing hyaluronic acid has become a popular choice in volume restoration.
4. Loss of Collagen and Collagen Production
Collagen is the connective molecule that holds moisture and elasticity together, giving the skin a youthful appearance. Early in life, we have an abundance of Collagen; however, in our 20′s, the body slows and stops producing Collagen and begins to breakdown. Without the continued production of Collagen, moisture is lost and elasticity is weakened. This gradual decrease contributes to wrinkle formation, thinning skin, and loss of suppleness.
5. Loss of Elasticity
Elasticity in the skin comes from fibrous protein bands known as Elastin fibers. In our youth, these fibers are tight and recoil similar to rubber bands. As we age, the Elastin fibers weaken and are unable to revert back to their original shape. With the diminished elasticity, the skin loses its ability to retain its shape, resulting in saggy facial features.
A Liquid Facelift is a non surgical, minimally invasive procedure for injecting dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse to replace volume loss, balance all aspects of the face and contour facial features.
